I Still Use My Student Discount
And Here is How You Can Too!

Perhaps the best thing about being a student is student discounts. With UniDays spreading around the web as well, anyone with access to a student email or student ID can take advantage of student discounts. Perhaps I should have some moral qualms about using the discount to my advantage… but I don’t.
I am able to do this because my university didn’t put a year on my student ID. It simply has my name, picture, student ID, and says “student.” I also have access to my student email as it is how my school contacts me about alumni events. If you want to take advantage of student discounts, even after you have graduated, check and see if your school did the same thing on your ID and with your email. Otherwise, if it has a graduating year or a “valid” year span, it might not be accepted.
What is UNiDAYS?
UNiDAYS is a website that works with a variety of different retailers to provide student discounts. Basically, you sign up with a student email, verify that email, and you get access to tons of different websites. I use it for Apple Music ($4.99/mo. instead of $9.99/mo), but there are tons of other retailers that use the website to verify students. You can receive discounts from Samsung, 1800 Contacts, Butcher Box, Costco, Audible, as well as tons of clothing retailers. It is a great way to shop online.
In Store Student ID Discounts
The best surprise is when a store you like to shop at offers a student discount you didn’t know about. Not all stores offer one but I would suggest you get into the habit of asking if they do when you are shopping. Some of my favorites are Madewell, Kate Spade, Under Armour, GNC, LOFT/Ann Taylor, L’Occitane, American Eagle, and Seafolly.
There are likely many others out there that I am not aware of because I either don’t shop there or I have yet to ask. I try and make sure I ask whenever possible. It is always nice to save a couple extra dollars! We may not be starving students anymore, but it can be hard to get established once student loans kick in!
The Catch
Not all stores will offer a student discount. But many who do, will only offer the discount on…
